Whew! It has been a scorcher of a summer hasn't it? Everyone's hair has been taking it tough with this extreme weather. Most of the hair we see in the salon this time of the year is dry, dull, splitting and has color fading. As professional stylists, we try to repair the damage with special treatments and take-home products. But these tools may not always be at your disposal. So, here are some helpful tips to combat and solve your hair woes.
1. Use a deep conditioner instead of a daily each time you shampoo. Your hair needs extra moisture like your body needs extra water
2. Use styling products and shampoos with sunscreen built in
3. Make sure you apply at least one product that protects your hair thermally. Many products contain more than one benefit.
4. Wear a hat when in the Sun for an extended period of time
5. No hat? Apply a moisturizing spray with sunscreen, gives a great beachy look too!
6. Lastly, regular haircuts. Good time frame is 6-8 weeks. Even if you're growing it out, your hair needs the frayed ends removed.
If you follow these few steps, your hair will be able to maintain its shine and luster, no matter where the thermometer goes! Ask your stylist which products and services best fit your needs. Enjoy the rest of your summer!
