We are excited to announce Shadyside Celebration 2012, Sunday, July 1, 7:30 p.m.
The concert in the park is a tradition run by the City of Anderson’s Parks Department with support of our sponsor, Community Hospital. Fireworks will follow the concert pending weather and any guidelines given out by the Fire Marshall or County Commissioner. Concessions are available.
Three weeks ago, Doug Zook, Superintendent of the Parks Department, discovered that there was no orchestra to perform at the annual event. Zook worked diligently with Mr. John Parshall, Director of The Lapel Community Band, to ensure the Shadyside Celebration continues. The band is comprised of a number of retired band directors, former high school musicians, and others.
“We are thankful to the Lapel band for filling a valued gap and Doug Zook and his tireless effort in finding such a wonderful group. The Shadyside Celebration has been the ideal event for families and people of all ages. It is a tradition in Anderson. “ stated Mayor Kevin Smith.
The band will perform a 92- minute concert of patriotic and other musical pieces.
