Introduction to Computers This session is designed for people with little or no computing experience. We will introduce basic computer concepts that include mouse and keyboard skills, basic navigation, terminology, powering up and properly shutting down the computer. If you have recently purchased a computer, or are thinking about it, this is the class for you!
Windows Basics This introductory and guided tour of Windows has been updated for Windows Vista and Windows 7.
The course has been designed with the beginner in mind. Attendees will have hands on access and learn to perform basic tasks such as navigating through Windows, changing settings, creating shortcuts, opening applications, and saving files.
Basic Internet Skills An introductory course for people with little or no experience using the internet. Learn how use search engines to find the information you want, shortcuts to find answers fast and use address bars to go directly to desired web sites. Use your new skills to sample some of the offerings of the internet.
Beginning E-Mail Learn how to sign up for a free e-mail account, write and send messages, set up an address book and use options to personalize your account!
BYB: Advanced Internet Beyond the Basics: Advanced Internet provides a look into RSS feeds, shopping, social networks, blogs and more to expand your internet horizons
Facebook Basics Interested in social networking? Learn how to sign up and create a Facebook account in this session. We’ll cover the basics of setting up and managing your profile, privacy settings, adding content, finding/adding friends, and uploading photos. A valid email address with username and password on hand is required for this session.
Intermediate E-Mail Beyond the Basics: Intermediate E-Mail is a class designed for those seeking additional e-mail instruction. Attendees will learn about inbox perils and what to do about them, sending attachments, a better way of forwarding and much more! An existing e-mail account with username and password on hand and basic computer skills is necessary for this session.
Maintaining Your Computer Let us show you how to keep your computer clean and tidy inside and out. Learn to use tools provided in Windows to maintain the health of your machine and how to protect your system from viruses and malware!
File Management Learn how to manage and organize your computer files. This session will help you learn how to create folders for easier use as well as how to move, copy and back up your files into your new folders. Users will also get a look at burning CDs and using flash drives.
E-Reader Basics A general guide to electronic book readers for beginners. We will discuss e-book formats, reader device setups, how to load books on several major brand readers and e-book services offered by the Anderson Public Library.
