No Place Like Home

I remember very clearly the excitement of buying my first home. Well, now I think about it, I remember the anxiety and uncertainty that goes along with such a huge decision. I had been at my first job out of college for a few years and was making a steady income. So, buying a house seemed like the next logical step in my life.

At the young age of 24, taking on a $45,000 commitment seemed a bit overwhelming. Luckily, I landed in the hands of an agent who was knowledgeable, proficient, and most of all patient.

Having such guidance allowed me to get back to the excitement of buying a home. Oh, it was so adorable! A little 2 bedroom bungalow surrounded by absolutely beautiful flowers. There were tulips, daffodils, peonies, and lilies- all sorts of lilies. It even had a picket fence! OK, it was split rail but you get the picture. The interior was painted baby blue, which, while outdated, reminded me of by bedroom growing up. It had a full finished basement which for some reason I thought was the coolest thing ever even though I rarely used it.

The house was only 2 blocks away from where I worked so I drove by it every day. Some days I would see the current owner out working on her flowers and I would day dream about me pulling weeds and trimming shrubs. Then came the day when I no longer needed to drive by the home but could pull into MY driveway, my lilies, my basement! What is it about owning a home that can make a person so proud? Well, that’s a topic for another day.

There’s no place like home.
